Llangors
Representing the views of our community

WHAT WE DO

Vision
Our vision for the Llangors Community is a strong, diverse, well-educated community with shared values striving to live sustainably and to protect nature. The area we live in is safe, attractive, and economically vibrant with the right balance of housing and is welcoming to visitors.
Mission
Our mission is to work proactively to achieve this vision by being well informed on all issues affecting the community, adopting policies and taking appropriate managements steps on those matters where the Council has direct responsibility and being a champion for local interests on matters where we are consulted or have influence.
Purpose
Our purpose is to communicate well with local people in order to understand attitudes and views on all local matters, to spend public money cost effectively in the best interests and wellbeing of the community, to manage Council owned assets safely and efficiently, to support voluntary and community groups for the benefit of the community and the environment and to be accountable for all we do.

Alongside formal public meetings members engage with residents and organisations in the community on a daily basis to identify their needs and aspirations on many different topics. This forms a base for decision making, monitoring and appropriate action which often means working with external bodies such as the Welsh Assembly Government, Powys County Council, Brecon Beacons National Park Authority and the emergency services, amongst others.
Being at the heart of the area the Community Council is able to give an unique response to the needs of the community with a sensitivity that is more difficult for County Councils to achieve when developing and delivering public services. Why not read the Elections page on this site to further understand the role of the Community Councillor.
The Community Council also manages the Glebe Playing Field in Llanfihangel Talyllyn and the St Pailinus Churchyard in Llangors’ on behalf of the community.
