Local Government Elections take place on 5th May 2022.

To vote at the election you must have registered to vote before 14th April 2022. To do this you need to go to www.gov.uk/registertovote

At the time of writing, it is understood that nominations for the election will be an online process commencing from 15th March. The closing date for receipt of nominations will be 4pm, 5th April 2022.

All nominations for both County and Community Council elections in Powys are dealt with by Powys County Council. Up to date information can be found on the elections page of their website: www.powys.gov.uk

Llangors Community Council Elections

Llangors Community Council is an amalgamation of two electoral wards: Llangors ward and Llanfihangel Talyllyn ward. There are five seats in each ward. If you are to complete nomination papers for the election, be sure to select the appropriate ward. If more nominations are received than seats available, an election will take place.

This website highlights the work of the Community Council and its members, who give of their time on a voluntary basis. If being part of the tier of local government nearest to the people is of interest, you can commit valuable time to be effective in the role and represent the diverse views of the community, you may be considering becoming a member of the team. Now is the time to seek further information and get ready to complete your nomination form.

One Voice Wales is the representative body for Town & Community Councils and with assistance from Welsh Government they have published a video to promote and encourage individuals to stand for election in May 2022. The video, is available here in Welsh and English:

The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has published a guide to being a Community Councillor which explains the role and the Code of Conduct that Councillors must sign up to. This can be read on its website: www.ombudsman.wales

Powys County Councillor Election

The local Powys County Council Ward, from May 2022, will be known as Llangors with Bwlch. There is just one seat in the ward. To view the new boundary map here is the link: Powys Final Recommendations | LDBC (gov.wales)
